Digital money transfer service WorldRemit and Zimbabwe's leading postal company Zimpost (Pvt) LTD have partnered to open up new remittance routes to Zimbabwe.

The partnership is expected to support the growing demand for instant transfers in the country. It complements existing money transfer options of Mobile Money, bank deposits, cash pick up and airtime top-up.

Through Zimpost's extensive agent network, WorldRemit customers can collect cash  at locations all over the country - including Harare, Mutare, Masvingo, Gweru and Bulawayo. For a detailed list of all pick up locations in Zimbabwe please visit the WorldRemit website here.

Zimpost is the leading postal, communication and financial services provider in Zimbabwe. The company has an unrivalled postal network spread throughout the country.

Remittances play a vital role in Zimbabwe's economy - the country received more than $2 billion of remittances in 2015 accounting for almost 15% of its Gross Domestic Product (GDP), according to the World Bank.

With the WorldRemit app or website, customers send more than 580,000 transfers every month to more than 140 destinations. WorldRemit, known as the "WhatsApp of money", makes sending a remittance as easy as sending an instant message.

Pardon Mujakachi, Country Director at WorldRemit South Africa comments: "We want to offer our customers the widest and most convenient choice of pay-out options. ZimPost is a trusted and dependable brand with a fantastic network of locations across the country. Our partnership will extend our footprint into new territories and will enable even more people to make secure, instant money transfers."

Sifundo Chief Moyo, Acting Managing Director at Zimpost added: "We are delighted to enter into this partnership with WorldRemit. We rely on their expertise to give people the power to share money anytime, anywhere taking advantage of our unrivalled postal network spread throughout the country and WorldRemit's technical and operational excellence to support the Zimbabwean people".
