Bale halted as Pepe signs up for Gunners

French ligue 1 side Lille OSC have caught the eyes of Arsenal as a result of their soon to be former sensational striker Nicolas Pepe.

The Ivorian winger's last season impressive form of 23 goals in 41 games was like a beacon to most top flight league teams including Liverpool, PSG, AC Milan and Napoli whose bid was rejected by Lille for unknown reasons.

Regardless, the Gunners's bid of 72 million Pounds was seemingly more satisfactory than Napoli's.

Arsenal are vying for top silverwares this coming season as this is yet another forward signing, after they procured the signature of yet another Ivorian winger Wilfried Zaha for 40 million Pounds from Crystal Palace last month.

On the Laliga side, Gareth Bale's move to China is off after Real Madrid cancelled the deal, with the Wales winger now set to stay at the Spanish club.

Zinedine Zidane had previously said Bale was "very close to leaving." Zidane and Bale are like oil and water and Zidane hasn't been ashamed of showing the rift between him and the 30 year old Welsh international.

Last week's 3 - 1 loss to Bayern Munich really rubbed Zidane the wrong way who in turn uttered shuttering words about Bale, "we hope he leaves soon, it would be best for everyone, we are working on his transfer to a new team."

Zidane added his exit would be "best for everyone". However, Real Madrid's president Florentino Perez seems to have a soft spot for the Welshman as he is usually in his defense and that might be the reason the deal didn't go through with Jiangsu Suning.

Bale still has three years left on his contract with the Bernabeu club.
