Telecel: Govt shuts out private investors

The government has effectively elbowed out private investors in its quest to acquire equity in Telecel.

Despite there being a private investor who is willing to invest capital into Telecel and pay off its obligations, the cash strapped government has insisted that it was going to buy the company through Zarnet.

ICT minister, Supa Mandiwanzira is using a claim that Zimbabwe was deprived of capital gains tax after the Telecel shareholding was changed twice, as a means to justify the acquisition of the company by government.
