History has been made and Zimbabwe is now in the Guinness Book of Records as the country with the biggest marimba ensemble.

The event took place this afternoon in the capital, Harare.

Zimarimba Festival has made history after 200 participants from 40 schools played together in the largest marimba ensemble beating Australia's record which had 108 participants a feat that was set in November 2016.

It was not as easy as it sounds as the organisers of the event had to overcome a lot of challenges said Mpiwa Gwindi-organiser of the event.

The Zimbabwean marimba players played the popular marimba tune ‘Manhanga Kutapira' in a booming ensemble.

The Zimarimba Festival was endorsed by the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe and the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority and the participants were drawn from schools in Harare, Masvingo and Marondera among others.
