PROMINENT Bulawayo activist Josphat Mzaca Ngulube will next week lead a three-hour peaceful demonstration as part of highlighting the plight of an ordinary suffering citizen as the economy continues to tank.

Ngulube who is famous for leading various demonstrations in the city, yesterday said the protest has been slated for Wednesday, July 17 in the city's central business district.

"I will lead a demonstration in Bulawayo CBD from 1pm to 4pm. We are not shutting down anything but we want to air out our grievances to the government led by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

"We will start from Hyper and end at our now freedom place which is the Joshua Mqabuko Statue where solidarity speeches will be read and final press statement which will summarise the reasons of the demonstration, suggestions to the government and the way forward," he said in a notice.

Ngulube said it was his hope that the government will take heed of the concerns that they will raise during the peaceful the protest.

"If the government fail to respect and bow to our call we will not hesitate to abandon our houses and flood the street peacefully.

"There is no one who can liberate Zimbabwe better than us as her citizens! Zimbabweans the future of Zimbabwe is in our hands and we only live once. The time of being afraid of arrests and killings is over it's now or never!"

Ngulube said all the citizens who have borne the brunt of the failing economy should come and join the peaceful protest.

"Peaceful demonstration is more powerful than violent one! As hungry people we do have energy to fight with police and soldiers."

He, however, insisted that "No violence no burning of tyres." Ngulube recently led a demo against government's alleged ill-treatment of outspoken Ntabazinduna chief Nhlanhla Ndiweni.

In his many encounters with the law enforcers Ngulube was one of the incarcerated victims of the crackdown of state security agents during the January fuel protests.
