Bulawayo-born songbird Berita Khumalo teamed up with erstwhile Princess of Africa Yvonne Chaka Chaka in what is sure to be the collaboration to watch in her upcoming self-titled album.

The Nguwe Wedwa hit-maker is set to release her third album on 9 June, although fans can already purchase the album as it is already available to pre-order on iTunes.

In the forthcoming album, Berita also worked with Congolese singer and songwriter Tresor, South African music star Mjakes Thebe while Nigerian guitarist Kunle Ayo was the producer.

The singer's new album, titled Berita, will be a follow-up to Songs of Empowerment, an album that saw her try to bridge the gap between the old and the new when she featured the likes of Oliver Mtukudzi and Hugh Masekela.

Previously, the 25-year-old singer indicated that her next project would stray from the love themes that have brought her fame south of the Limpopo.

Commenting after pictures of the album were uploaded online, Berita said she felt a big sense of pride in her latest work.

"The most beautiful feeling in the world is when your dream comes full circle. It feels so good to see a picture of my new album. This album is a dream revival for me. I'm thankful for the journey. I would do it over and over again," she said.

The songbird also added that the project had opened her eyes to her own character in ways that she had never thought it would.

"I also learnt so much about myself as a creative through this project.  From here onwards it's bliss, I want to reintroduce the Berita sound and brand. I want to double, triple the worth of my catalogue. I want other young women creatives to be encouraged. Fall seven times and rise eight times. Fight until you're blue for your calling," she said.
