The MDC-T primary elections for Mazowe North, Member of Parliament went on smoothly on Friday while the councillor's post was characterized by chaotic scenes after supporters denounced the encroachment on a seat reserved for youths and demanded elections.

Tulani Ndlovu popularly known as Fire president was voted the MP after Isaac Wachi and Knight Ngirazi withdrew from the race while Stanford Chiwara performed dismally.

Drama was witnessed when the election conductors refused to hold primaries for councillors imposing their youth provincial chairman Tonderai Samhu after two failed trials.

The electorate reportedly threatened to burn ballot papers for MPs if councillor's elections were not held prompting Samhu to withdraw from the polls.

Fanuel Chigonero was subsequently voted ward 28 councillor, despite Samhu's appeal that the ward is for youths.

Speaking on the side-lines with Bulawayo24.com the provincial youth chairman said he was being fought by a lot of people in house though he is yet to decide on withdrawing.

"There was no election for councillors these guys were so violent to the extent of going against party orders ward 28 is a youth ward but Chigonero is grabbing it, l am yet to decide because the ground is not even for me," said Samhu.

Chigonero dismissed violence allegations saying Samhu was just voted out in the presence of police.

"There was no violence , the electorate does not want Samhu he lost twice so people are trying new blood the election was conducted peacefully in the presence of police," he said.

However, it remains to be seen who will battle it out with ZANU PF since the constituency  has been allocated to Transform Zimbabwe under the banner of the MDC Allience and Tinashe Muchenje was tipped to be the Alliance candidate.
