A 28-YEAR-OLD Mvurwi man was arraigned before Guruve resident magistrate on Friday for bashing his wife with a log over a cellphone torch dispute.

Sean Bandera (28) of Dawson farm pleaded guilty to the charge and was slapped with $150 fine or risk going to jail for 30 days  if he fails to pay by 4October 2018 by resident magistrate Shingirai Mutiro.

Public prosecutor Spiwe Makarichi told the court that on 18 September this year, Bandera had a domestic dispute with his wife Evidence Chipandeki and he went on to assault with a wooden log several times all over her body.

Chipandeki sustained minor injuries and was not examined by the doctor.

In a related case Cleopas Banda (28) of Forester F, Mvurwi appeared before the same magistrate for bashing his wife Chipo Kumukuri in a domestic dispute.

Banda pleaded not guilty to the charge and his case was remanded to 5 October for trial.

The state alleges that on 18 September 2018 Bandera assaulted his wife with open hands in a domestic violence case.

Spiwe Makarichi represented the state.
